About

Coutnac Beach, on the shores of the Outer Harbour of Penetang Bay, Georgian Bay, Ontario, founded in 1958, is Canada's first formally planned shoreline community.

Coutnac Beach is named as a linguistic portmanteau of the founding developers' names: the late Wilfrid Coutu and the late Jerome Gignac (once Mayor of Penetanguishene). Mr. Coutu and Mr. Gignac, partners in the Penetanguishene Realty Co. Ltd., developed the subdivision in phases providing the option of having a residence built with a given lot purchase. We are grateful to both these land development pioneers for their forethought, vision and initiative to develop our community as it stands today.

We are a long-standing, tight-knit, family-friendly community that is supported by a strong community association of hard-working and dedicated volunteers/members.

With over sixty-five (65) years of history we are bestowed and thankful of our rich tapestry and a truly unique sense of place that betters the quality of life of all Coutnac residents.
